What Is Couples Counseling?
Couples counseling (also called couples therapy) is a type of psychotherapy designed to treat the relationship as a whole, rather than focusing on one person.
Couples counselors work to help you overcome issues related to communication, trust, and commitment within the relationship without placing blame or shame on anyone. You and your partner will meet together with a therapist to talk openly about your struggles as you collaborate to find solutions. Some couples will also benefit from engaging in individual therapy while completing couples counseling, particularly if one or both members are struggling with depression, anxiety, or trauma.
Some of the most common issues addressed in couples counseling include:
If you and your partner are struggling with these or any other issues, I can help. I know how difficult it can be to work through relational problems, and no one should have to do this alone.
Couples counseling can help you learn how to:
- Communicate well with one another
- Notice patterns of conflict and learn to act differently
- Express love and affection for one another
- Build trust and connection
- Overcome sexual problems
- Move forward from incidents of cheating or infidelity
- Deal with stress more effectively

How Does Pinder Counseling Do Couples Counseling
Here at Pinder Counseling, you and your partner will meet together with your therapist of choice virtually. Each session is entirely confidential and specifically tailored to help you reach your goals as quickly and effectively as possible.
We utilize techniques from Humanistic psychotherapy as well as CBT, Reality Therapy, and Person-Centered. These approaches seek to enhance your relationship’s strengths and hidden potential, rather than focus on what is “wrong.” We believe that, with the right skills, support, and insight, you and your partner can overcome whatever life has thrown your way.
Our CEO, Melonie Pinder, created Pinder Counseling because she believed each person deserved a chance to be their best self and live their best life.
Together, we can make that happen.
